The Legacy pitch at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos was a behive of activities on Thursday as three members of the bronze Winning squad of Super Eagles Of Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations in Egypt inspired hundreds of kids at the Grand finale of an event tagged “Summer Camp With Etebo”, put together by SpringSoca Academy and Etebo Oghenekaro Peter Foundation.
The aim of the Summer Camp was achieved, as the kids, most of who came with their parents and relatives had the opportunity to relate and play with the professionals, and many of them said it was their greatest moment ever.
Others said they will forever cherish the moment and would always make reference to the exercise in years to come.
Super Eagles trio Etebo, Osimhen and Ogu as well as the manager of Victor Osimhen, Mr. Ariyo Igbayilola engaged the kids in sessions, trained, tutored and also played with them.
Stoke City Midfielder Etebo Oghenekaro who was the main figure appreciated his teammates for turning up, he also apologized on behalf of Turkey based Henry Onyekuru who was  stuck in traffic and had to return home halfway.
Etebo said “This is huge and massive, I must firstly appreciate the kids because they are the reason why we are here, kudos to their parents for allowing them come out to partake in this summer camp, and hopefully, we can do this regularly.”
“I already told the players that talent alone is not enough, I grew up from the streets and based on that, I’m in the best position to talk to them, they are talented, but hard work needs to come in, and I wish them all the best in their chosye career.”.
On his part, former Hapoel Beer Sheva strong man John Ogu said “It feels good to know we can inspire the kids through something like this, we didn’t have the mentorship opportunity while coming up, and with that, the kids are destined for greatness.”
Sporting Charleroi Point man and former FIFA Under 17 World Cup goal king Victor Osihmen opined that “Mentorship is key, it shapes one’s life irrespective of the career path, this is a laudable project embarked upon by Etebo Oghenekaro, I key into this idea and I will always be part of it.”.
Chairman Etebo Oghenekaro Peter Foundation, Mr Endurance Iseri Ogbemudia said ” The partnership we have with SpringSoca has started yielding, this project will be on the lips of many people for a very long time. I appreciate our principal Etebo Oghenekaro for creating time out of his obvious tight schedule to be here, I also say thank you to Ogu John and Victor Osihmen, may everything they lay their hands on continue to prosper.”
Chairman of SpringSoca Academy, Mr Dapo Emmanuel said he was short of words due to what he saw, he said “I am the happiest man on Earth today, I just want to say thank you to everyone who made this a success”.
The event attracted people from different walks of life as Journalists, students, sports men and women who train regularly at the stadium including Basketballers, Table Tennis players, weightlifters and special Athletes were also on ground
